Working with South Deep

Our objective

South Deep is deeply committed to the communities in which we operate, and in ensuring that our host communities’ benefit both directly and indirectly from the operations of the mine.

Not only are we committed to the targets we have made under the Mining Charter to identify and develop black-owned suppliers and service providers, but we also believe that should include our Host Community suppliers and service providers, Regional Suppliers and National South African Based suppliers in line with 2018 Mining Charter 3 requirements dealing with ownership and local content. This includes BEE Compliant Companies, Historically Disadvantaged Person Owned and Controlled Companies which include Youth and Women majority ownership.

Procurement decisions are based on sound economic principles which is the right thing to do, and part of living up to our values. It is our intention to make a real and lasting impact on the development and support of sustainable, competitive and independent businesses that will be able to deliver mining goods and services, not only to South Deep, but to other businesses in the area, and beyond.
